South Whittier, California (October 20, 2019) – A teenage boy was airlifted to a hospital after being involved in a traffic crash while on a skateboard on Friday evening in South Whittier, according to the authorities.

The crash was reported at around 4:35 p.m. October 19, on Mulberry Drive and Ruoff Drive.

Authorities said a 16-year-old boy was riding a skateboard outside of a crosswalk when a van struck him.

The boy was airlifted to USC Medical Center for treatment. There was no update on the teen’s condition.

The driver of the van reportedly remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

The crash remains under investigation.

Many pedestrians are hurt and several others killed in accidents in California every year.
