South Los Angeles, California (July 6, 2021) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle while running across a freeway in South Los Angeles Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly pedestrian collision was reported at around 10:06 p.m. Monday, July 5 on southbound the side of Harbor Freeway at the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway.

The male driver of a white Mercedes-Benz told the CHP that the pedestrian was running across the southbound Harbor Freeway prior to the collision.

The pedestrian, whose name has not been released pending family notification, was killed in the accident.

As of 10:43 p.m., a  SigAlert was issued to close all southbound lanes of the Harbor Freeway in the area. Motorists were diverted into Express Lanes and onto the eastbound Glenn Anderson Freeway.

The crash remains under investigation.
