South Lake Tahoe, California (June 3, 2019) – A 39-year-old woman from Auburn was critically hurt in a car crash in South Lake Tahoe Sunday evening.

The bicycle crash occurred at around 5:53 p.m. June 2, on Lake Tahoe Boulevard in front of the Grocery Outlet Store.

The accident happened when a woman riding a small electric bicycle in a westerly direction on the sidewalk lost control and fall onto the roadway where she was hit by a car.

The crash resulted in significant injuries to the bicyclist. An off-duty nurse from Barton Health, who was driving by, stopped and offered first aid treatment to the victim until emergency personnel arrived. The patient was after that taken to Barton Hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the involved car stopped after the crash and cooperated with the police investigation.

The authorities affirmed that drugs or alcohol were not factors during the time of the accident.

Meanwhile, the crash remains under an active investigation.
