Man Critically Injured in Sorrento Valley Crash on 805 Freeway near Sorrento Valley Boulevard
Sorrento Valley, California (January 2, 2019) – A man was critically injured after being hit by a car on Tuesday afternoon in the area of Sorrento Valley, according to a local news source.
The accident happened a while after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 1, on 805 Freeway near Sorrento Valley Boulevard.
As per the report, the man was standing on the driver’s side of his Nissan 350Z on the shoulder of the freeway when a silver Mercedes hit him and his car. The impact threw the victim more than 100 feet.
A second car then hit the Nissan, and another vehicle was hit and damaged by debris from the crash.
Responding officers said that the Nissan driver was racing before pulling over on the side of the roadway for unknown reasons.
The man suffered severe head injuries, and he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Officials reported that the vehicle the patient was racing was not involved in the collision and was not at the scene after the accident.
Authorities issued a SigAlert following the accident. Traffic was backed up at State Route 56. The roadway was re-opened at around 5:15 p.m.
