1 Seriously Injured in French Gulch Crash on Eureka Way (Highway 299) near Trinity Mountain Road

Shasta County, California (May 30, 2019) – One person was hospitalized Thursday morning after a head-on collision in French Gulch, according to a local news source.
The accident was reported at about 4:59 a.m. on Highway 299, just west of Trinity Mountain Road. Highway 299 is also known as Eureka Way.
As per the report, an empty logging truck collided head-on with a car for an unspecified reason on the highway. The force of the impact pushed the truck over the embankment and landed approximately 100 feet below the roadway.

Paramedics responded to the scene and extricated the driver of the truck who was trapped in his vehicle. The patient was then airlifted to a hospital with moderate to major injuries.
The roadway was shut down following the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
