Several Hospitalized after Chico Car Accident on Ceanothus Avenue near Pleasant Valley High School; Clarence Perry Jr. Arrested
Chico, California (May 14, 2019) – Several people were hospitalized Monday morning after an alleged DUI crash in Chico, police said.
The accident happened at about 7:40 a.m. Monday, May 13 on Ceanothus Avenue near Pleasant Valley High School.
According to the police, Clarence Perry Jr., 66, of Chico, was driving his vehicle southbound on Ceanothus Avenue from East Avenue allegedly at twice the posted speed when he crashed into the rear of a slower-moving vehicle that was also traveling southbound.

Police said the force of the impact caused a chain reaction of impacts that involved four vehicles.
Several passengers were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Perry was arrested for felony driving under the influence of a controlled substance causing injury, felony child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
