Selma, California (April 1, 2021) – A man died following a suspected DUI hit-and-run traffic accident at an intersection in Selma Tuesday morning.

The fatal crash happened near the intersection of Floral Avenue and A Street at about 1:00 a.m.

A Honda Accord driven by 26-year-old Lizbeth Romero-Resendez hit a Chevy Tahoe near the intersection in the morning hours.

Romero-Resendez, a Parlier woman resident, was intoxicated at the time of the collision.

The SUV, which was unoccupied at the time, acquired major damage upon impact. 

Selma Car Crash Kills 1 Person

A male passenger riding in the back seat of the Accord sustained major injuries in the crash. He later died at the hospital while undergoing treatment.

Police said Lizbeth and another woman abandoned the Honda and hid behind a gate of a house near Floral and E Street.

They were later located and taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

Officers arrested Romero-Resendez on vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, hit-and-run, and DUI.

The accident remains under investigation.
