Scott Hamers ID’d as 48-Year-Old Man Killed in Benicia Pedestrian Accident on East 2nd Street

Benicia, California (November 12, 2020) – Scott Hamers, 48, has been identified as the transient man who was hit and killed by a police patrol car on Wednesday morning in Benicia, according to the Solano County coroner’s office.
The deadly pedestrian accident transpired at about 2:00 a.m., on November 11, in the 1900 block of East 2nd Street.
According to the police, an on-duty police officer in a patrol car struck the Hamers. It was not clear if Hamers was in a crosswalk or how fast the patrol car was going at the time.

Sadly, Hamers was pronounced dead at the scene.
The involved officer, who was not responding to a call for service at the time, was not injured in the accident.
Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the accident.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
