Santiago Diaz-Cardenas ID’d as 75-Year-Old Sonoma Man Killed in Petaluma Truck Accident at Pepper Road and Bodega Avenue
Petaluma, California (August 22, 2020) – Santiago Diaz-Cardenas, 75, of Sonoma, has been identified as the man who was killed in a truck accident on Tuesday in Petaluma, police said.
The crash happened on August 18, at the intersection of Pepper Road and Bodega Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford Explorer SUV, driven by Diaz-Cardenas, was at the intersection when, for unknown reasons, it turned left onto eastbound Bodega Avenue directly in the pathway of a fuel tanker.
The left front side of Diaz-Cardenas’s truck collided with the front right side of the fuel truck.
Following the collision, the Ford drifted off the roadway and into a dirt embankment, where it flipped over.

Sadly, Diaz-Cardenas was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further details regarding the accident were not immediately available.
An investigation into the collision is underway.
