Woman Sustained Major Injuries in Santa Maria Car Accident on Highway 101

Santa Maria, California (November 12, 2019) – Pismo Beach Woman was seriously injured in a traffic collision involving two vehicles in Santa Maria late Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported at about 11:46 p.m. on November 10, along Highway 101 near Highway 166.
The CHP said a Ford Focus driven by 18-year-old Solvang teen northbound on Highway 101 crashed into the back of a Nissan Sentra driven by the 57-year-old Pismo Beach woman. The initial report indicated that the Solvang driver was driving at high speed at the time of the collision.
Due to the impact, the Nissan slammed into the center median while the Ford reportedly crashed into a dirt embankment before rolling and landing on its roof in between the 166 onramp to northbound Highway 101 and Thompson Road.
Both drivers sustained major injuries in the crash.
The Pismo Beach woman was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
Detectives believed the teen was intoxicated at the time of the accident. The identity of the female party has not yet been released to this time.
The 18-year-old Solvang teen was arrested for DUI.
The investigation is underway.
