Santa Cruz, California (March 28, 2021) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a major injury collision that happened on a highway in Santa Cruz Thursday afternoon.

The major injury crash occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. along Highway 1, just north of Morrissey Boulevard.

The accident involved four vehicles that crashed in the southbound lanes of the highway for unknown reasons.

Due to the impact, a Chevrolet truck acquired front-end damage while another Chevrolet had rear-ended damage.

One of the drivers was pinned inside the wreckage and had to be rescued by firefighters.

As per the report, one unidentified victim was hospitalized with major injuries sustained in the mishap.

The wreck resulted in the closure of the southbound side of Highway 1 for an unknown time.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
