39-Year-Old Ventura Man Dies, One Seriously Injured in Santa Barbara County Crash on Highway 154 near Lake Cachuma

Santa Barbara County, California (March 25, 2021) – A head-on collision has claimed the life of a 39-year-old Ventura man early Thursday morning in Santa Barbara County and left one other person seriously injured, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly accident occurred at about 4:00 a.m., on Highway 154 near Lake Cachuma.
The CHP said the Ventura man was driving a Toyota westbound on Highway 154 when he made an unsafe turning movement.
The Toyota reportedly drifted across the double yellow lines into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with an eastbound Dodge, driven by a 34-year-old Santa Barbara man.
Driver Killed, Another Seriously Injured in Highway 154 Crash
The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The Dodge driver suffered major injuries and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
Traffic on the highway was halted for several hours due to the collision.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
