Oak Park Man Dies after Being Hit by Vehicle on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara, California (December 15, 2019) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early Friday morning on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara, according to a local news source.

The deadly pedestrian accident happened at around 1:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 near the Garden Street exit.

As per the local news source, the pedestrian, identified as a 21-year-old Oak Park man, was in the right-hand lane of the interstate when for an unknown reason, he was hit by a big rig tractor operated by Charles C. Hudson, 56, of Loma Linda.

According to the report, the truck was not hauling a trailer at the time of the accident.

Paramedics responded to the scene and declared the man dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

Hudson was not injured in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
