Woman, Infant on Stroller Hurt in Santa Barbara Pedestrian Crash at Victoria and Santa Barbara Streets
Santa Barbara, California (January 18, 2019) – A woman and an infant in a stroller were both hurt when they were struck by a driver being chased by the police in Santa Barbara on Thursday afternoon, according to the authorities.
The incident took place at the intersection of Victoria and Santa Barbara streets just after noon on Thursday, January 17.
The Santa Barbara police officers were attempting to serve a search warrant and make an arrest at a residence in the 200 block of West Micheltorena Street when the suspect fled in a vehicle.
The officers pursued the suspect, who then ran a red light at the intersection of Victoria and Santa Barbara Streets, striking a woman who was pushing a stroller with a baby in it.
The two victims were both transported by ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with unknown injuries.
The suspect fled on foot after the incident but was arrested shortly after. He faces multiple charges including felony hit-and-run with injury and reckless driving causing great bodily injury.
The crash is under investigation.
