77-Year-Old Man Killed in Santa Barbara Pedestrian Crash along Hot Springs Road

Santa Barbara, California (March 3, 2019) – An elderly Santa Barbara man was struck and killed by a vehicle at a private property in Santa Barbara on Saturday morning, according to the CHP.
The crash happened at about 10:25 a.m. March 2 at the Casa Dorinda Life Care Community at 300 Hot Springs Road.
CHP said a 53-year-old Santa Barbara man operating a 2014 Hino Box truck was backing up when it struck a 70-year-old Santa Barbara man walking behind.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name was withheld even though the next of kin have been notified.
The driver of the truck remained at the site of the crash.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
