Santa Barbara, California (October 26, 2019) – A woman and two children were killed after a traffic collision Friday afternoon in the area of Santa Barbara, according to a local news source.

The crash happened at around 4:45 p.m. Friday, October 25, on Highway 154, near the Cold Spring Bridge.

As per the report, a Camaro was traveling west on Highway 154 when for unknown reasons, it crossed the double yellow line. The Camaro then crashed head-on into a sedan. The impact caused the sedan to spin and it stopped on the shoulder east of the bridge. The Camaro ended up on the Cold Spring Bridge after the collision.

Responding emergency crews declared the woman and two children in the back seat dead at the crash site. The names of the victims were not immediately released awaiting notification of next of kin.

The Camaro male driver was freed by firefighters from the wreckage. He was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Officials said that an SUV was trailing the sedan at the time of the crash. The man and a boy in the SUV were not injured in the crash.

Police also said that one car burst into flames and the fire spread to nearby vegetation, burning about two acres of the area.

An investigation is underway.
