27-Year-Old Man Hospitalized after San Ysidro Crash on Beyer Boulevard near Smythe Avenue

San Ysidro, California (October 15, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Monday night traffic accident that left a 27-year-old man seriously injured in San Ysidro.
The major injury accident transpired at about 8:45, on October 12, on Beyer Boulevard between Smythe Avenue and Interstate 805.
According to the police, a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by the 27-year-old man, was traveling eastbound on Beyer Boulevard when it veered to the right, went onto the sidewalk, and struck an unoccupied Jeep SUV and four other vehicles parked along the curb.
Following the collision, the Chevrolet and the Jeep caught fire.
First responders arrived at the scene and extricated the Chevrolet’s driver from the burning car.
27-Year-Old Man Injured in Car Crash on Beyer Boulevard in San Ysidro
The man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, including a broken left femur, a broken left knee, and internal injuries, the officials said.
Drugs or alcohol were suspected of having played a role in the mishap.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
