Inmates Hurt in San Jose Crash on Highway 880

San Jose, California (April 18, 2019) – A multi-vehicle collision involving a bus carrying Santa Clara County jail inmates left victims with injuries on Thursday morning in San Jose, CHP said.

The wreck happened at about 7:24 a.m. on Highway 880 north of U.S. Highway 101.

CHP said the crash happened in the southbound side of the highway. Details on the events leading up to the crash were unavailable.

Inmates Hurt in San Jose Bus Accident

The bus was full of inmates at the time of the crash. Some of the inmates were hurt but the number of those hurt and their extent were unknown.

Three left southbound lanes of the highway were closed as a result of the crash investigation.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation.
