1 Killed, 2 Injured in San Jose Car Accident at Meridian Avenue and Kooser Road
San Jose, California (January 25, 2019) – One person was killed and two others were hospitalized Thursday afternoon after a police chase ended in a traffic accident at a San Jose intersection, according to a local news source.
The deadly wreck happened at around 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24 at the intersection of Meridian Avenue and Kooser Road.
As per the report, an officer spotted a person walking from the front door of a home near Corumba Court and Vargas Drive to a nearby parked white BMW 525i.
Authorities said that person and the BMW sedan matched descriptions from a burglary that had occurred several hours earlier in the area.
When the suspect saw the officer, the man reportedly raced away and a pursuit ensued. The chase approached the intersection of Meridian Avenue and Kooser Road, where the BMW hit a black 2008 Lexus SUV driven by a woman.
Paramedics responded to the scene and took a total of two victims to a hospital. An occupant of the BMW was declared dead at the scene and another person from the same vehicle suffered unspecified injuries.
Authorities said the driver of the Lexus also sustained unspecified injuries and was transported to a hospital.
The names of the deceased and the injured victims have not been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
