28-Year-Old San Joaquin County Man Dies in Walnut Grove Car Accident on River Road near Vorden Road
Walnut Grove, California (August 28, 2020) – A man was killed Thursday in a traffic accident near Walnut Grove, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened on River Road, just north of Vorden Road on Thursday, August 27.
The CHP said a 28-year-old San Joaquin County man was driving his vehicle westbound on River Road when he lost control and crashed down an embankment into the Sacramento River. The vehicle became submerged in the river.
Witnesses told the authorities that the vehicle was speeding prior to the crash.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and pulled the driver from the vehicle.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of family.
It is undetermined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
