Four Killed in Two-Vehicle Wrong-Way Collision on Highway 101 near Candlestick Point in San Francisco

San Francisco, California (October 3, 2019) – Four people were killed in a collision involving a wrong-way motorist early Thursday morning in San Francisco, according to the CHP.

The wreck happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Highway 101 just north of Candlestick Point.

CHP said they received multiple reports of a Volkswagen traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the freeway. Shortly after, the wrong-way driver collided with a Ford Escape taxi. The impact ejected one passenger from the taxi.

4 Killed in San Francisco Wrong-Way Crash

The woman driving the Volkswagen and the three occupants of the taxi were killed in the collision. Their identities were not immediately released.

The authorities are working to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
