San Francisco, California (October 24, 2019) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a Caltrain on Wednesday evening in San Francisco, according to the authorities.

The crash happened at about 6:39 p.m. October 23, south of the 22nd Street station.

Authorities said northbound train No. 375 hit a pedestrian in a tunnel south of the station.

The victim was killed in the crash.

Approximately 400 passengers were on board the train at the time of the crash. None of them was injured.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

Many pedestrians are hurt and several others killed in accidents in California every year. The causes of many of these pedestrian accidents include distracted driving, speeding, drunk driving, reckless driving, bad weather, wrong-way driving and failure to observe traffic laws. It is evident that negligence on the part of motorists is the leading cause of these accidents.
