Caucasian Woman Killed in San Diego Pedestrian Accident at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Overland Avenue

San Diego, California (April 12, 2021) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a street sweeper Sunday night at an intersection in San Diego, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Bureau.
The deadly accident happened at around 10:01 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at the intersection of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Overland Avenue.
Authorities said the pedestrian, only identified as a Caucasian woman believed to be about 30 to 50 years old, was walking across Clairemont Mesa Boulevard when she was hit by a street sweeping Toyota Tundra that was heading westbound on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, approaching Overland Avenue on a green light.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident in San Diego
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving measures performed by responding medical personnel. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next kin.
The driver reportedly observed the pedestrian crossing the roadway and swerved but was not successful and hit her.
No other details about the crash were immediately provided.
The San Diego Police is investigating the accident.
