37-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured in San Diego Pedestrian Accident on University Avenue near 163 Freeway

San Diego, California (February 17, 2019) – A pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle late Friday night in the Hillcrest neighborhood, according to a local news source.
The accident happened at around 11:00 p.m. Friday, February 15 in the 1000 block of University Avenue, just east of the 163 Freeway.
As per the report, the pedestrian was crossing south across the University Avenue when he was hit by a 2010 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 22-year-old woman, which was traveling northbound on Vermont Street.
The 22-year-old woman failed to yield to the pedestrian and turned left onto University Avenue. She then struck a 37-year-old man who was in a marked crosswalk with the green pedestrian signal at the time.
Fire crews along with medical team responded to the scene and rendered aid to the man who sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident. He was then taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries including a broken leg. His name and condition were not immediately disclosed.
The Jeep driver remained at the scene and complied with investigators.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
