Child Hospitalized after Gardena Pedestrian Accident near Mas Fakai Park
Gardena, California (February 17, 2019) – A child was struck and injured by a suspected drunk driver in the City of Gardena on Friday night, according to the Gardena Police Department.
The crash was reported at about 8:00 p.m. February 15 near Mas Fakai Park.
Police said an 11-year-old girl was running across the street towards the park when she was hit by a large SUV.
The emergency crews responded to the incident and found the child lying unresponsive in the middle of the street. The crews performed life-saving efforts on her before she was transported to a trauma center.
The driver involved remained at the scene of the crash and was taken into custody for driving under influence.
The accident remained under investigation.
