At Least 1 Seriously Injured in San Diego Crash on 15 Freeway near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard
San Diego, California (February 17, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a major injury traffic crash involving a big rig that happened Tuesday night in San Diego.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident involved a big rig and another car and occurred at around 11:40 p.m. on northbound 15 Freeway at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.
Reportedly, the car possibly rear-ended the semi at speeds of 70+ mph.
The driver of the semi called authorities reporting the accident and said his vehicle was stopped on the right-hand shoulder.
Paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed that at least one person sustained major injuries in the crash. There were no more details given about the victim.
Authorities said a black BMW was abandoned at the scene but did not give more details.
CHP is investigating to establish the cause of the accident.
