5 Hurt Severely in San Diego Ambulance Accident on Kearny Villa Road
San Diego, California (May 17, 2019) –Five people, including two paramedics, were suffered injuries in a traffic collision that involved multi vehicles in San Diego Thursday afternoon, according to San Diego police.
The Multi-Vehicle Accident occurred at around 2:10 p.m. May 16, in the 4200 block of Kearny Villa Road
The accident happened when a northbound 2008 Infiniti Sedan G35S driven by 21-year-old driver lost control of his car and veered onto the southbound side of the street. The Sedan crashed head-on with the oncoming American Medical Response vehicle. The ambulance was then struck by 2009 Hyundai Azera that had been traveling directly behind it.
Two parties riding in the Sedan, including a 20-year-old male passenger, and a pair of emergency personnel in the ambulance were trapped in their crumped vehicles as a result of the wreck.
The victims were extricated from the wreckage by the firefighters and rushed them to Sharp Memorial Hospital along with the driver of the Hyundai, a 57-year-old man, for treatment of various injuries, including broken bones and other internal injuries. The passenger in the Infiniti was listed to be in a critical condition after sustained traumatic injuries.
The crash resulted in the closure of the street between Aero Drive and Balboa Avenue for an unspecified time.
The accident is still under an active investigation.
