San Diego, California (November 24, 2020) – Two people were injured in a fiery high-speed accident on Monday morning in San Diego, authorities said.

The accident occurred at about 7:23 a.m., on November 23, on Kelton Road.

The police attempted to stop a Mercedes at Federal Boulevard and Sumac Drive for a traffic violation, but the male driver drove away.

A pursuit led to eastbound Highway 94. The driver attempted to turn onto Kelton Road but failed to make the turn. Unfortunately, the car left the roadway, rolling into a canyon about 70 yards from the street, the police said.

The officers rushed to the wrecked vehicle and extricated the male driver and a juvenile passenger before it caught fire.

2 Hurt in San Diego Car Accident

Both parties were taken to a hospital for treatment, with the driver being under arrest.

More details about the accident were not immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
