San Diego, California (August 5, 2019) – Minor injuries were sustained after a traffic crash Sunday afternoon in the area of San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at around 4:26 p.m. Sunday, August 4, on 5 Freeway, north of 8th.

As per the CHP officials, two vehicles crashed for reasons still under investigation.

2-Car Accident on 5 Freeway in San Diego

An ambulance was sent to the scene to attend to the injured parties. One person was extricated from one of the cars following the crash. The total number of patients and their current condition was not immediately known.

Tow trucks were requested to remove the vehicles from the crash site.

A SigAlert was issued for about 30 minutes closing lanes 1 and 2, to give way to a rescue operation.

Debris was scattered in the lanes following the crash.

No additional information concerning this crash was provided.

An investigation is underway.
