Several Injured in Kramer Junction Crash on State Route 58
San Bernardino County, California (May 25, 2019) – Several people were injured Tuesday last week in a traffic accident near Kramer Junction, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened on State Route 58 Tuesday, May 14.
The CHP said a 2018 Honda Accord was stopped in traffic eastbound on State Route 58 while a 2017 Freightliner stopped behind the Honda. A 2018 Peterbilt was heading westbound on State Route 58 approaching the Honda and Freightliner.
A 2013 Freightliner traveling eastbound on State Route 58 struck the trailer of the 2017 Freightliner. The force of the impact caused the 2017 Freightliner to crash into the back end of the Accord, which was then pushed into the left side of the oncoming Peterbilt.
As a result of the collision, the Peterbilt ended up about 30 feet off the highway onto the shoulder.
Multi-Car Crash on State Route 58 near Kramer Junction
Firefighters along with paramedics responded to the scene and extricated the victims who were trapped inside their vehicles. The Peterbilt driver was airlifted by Mercy Air 14 to Antelope Valley Hospital with major injuries.
The occupants of the Accord sustained minor injuries and were taken by ground ambulance to Barstow Hospital while the drivers of the other trucks declined medical treatment.
Cleaning and clearing operations were performed at the scene.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
