CHP Officer Injured in 15 Freeway Accident near 215 Freeway in San Bernardino County

San Bernardino County, California (January 17, 2019) – A California Highway Patrol officer was injured in a traffic collision in San Bernardino County Tuesday night, authorities said.
The wreck occurred just after 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15 on the right shoulder of the westbound 10 Freeway, just east of the 215 Freeway.
According to the authorities, a 2000 Toyota Camry, was traveling in the right lane at approximately 60 mph in the rain when for an unknown reason it collided with another vehicle.
The Camry then continued traveling toward the shoulder and hit the left rear of a parked CHP cruiser while an officer investigated an earlier collision.
Authorities said the force of the impact knocked the CHP officer down while he was standing in the doorway of the patrol vehicle. The patrol car then hit a tow truck.
According to the authorities, the officer complained of pain and was off duty Wednesday.
No other details were immediately available. The crash remains under investigation.
