59-Year-Old Sacramento Man Dies in Rio Linda Bicycle Crash at Elkhorn Boulevard and Cherry Lane
Rio Linda, California (May 14, 2019) – A bicyclist was killed Sunday night in a collision with a minivan in Rio Linda, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly bicycle accident occurred at around 7:23 p.m. Sunday, May 12 near Elkhorn Boulevard near Cherry Lane.
The CHP said a 43-year-old Clovis resident was driving a Toyota minivan westbound on Elkhorn Boulevard with a green light when the bicyclist entered the street from Sacramento Northern Bike Trail and failed to stop at the red pedestrian/bicyclist signal.
Fatal Rio Linda Bicycle Crash on Elkhorn Boulevard Sunday
The bicyclist, only identified as a 59-year-old Sacramento man, was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
The driver of the minivan stopped at the scene and complied with investigators. Alcohol or drugs were not considered factors in the crash.
No arrests were made.
The crash remains under investigation.
