North Highlands, California (November 28, 2020) – An 81-year-old Sacramento man was hit and killed by a vehicle on Friday morning in North Highlands, according to a local news source.

At about 9:18 a.m., on November 27, the California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly accident at the intersection of Walerga Road and Bainbridge Drive.

The CHP said the man was walking his bike along the right sidewalk of Bainbridge Drive when a vehicle, driven by a 31-year-old Sacramento man, drove up onto the sidewalk and crashed into the male pedestrian.

The 81-year-old Sacramento man was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the officials. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, the CHP said.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
