Sacramento, CA: CHP Investigating Major Injury Crash on Highway 51 near E Street

Sacramento, California (May 2, 2021) – At least one person was seriously hurt when two vehicles collided Saturday night on a highway in Sacramento, the California Highway Patrol said.

The incident happened at around 9:22 p.m. on southbound Highway 51, near E Street.

According to CHP, a red Hyundai Elantra and a Ford sedan collided for unknown reasons.

The sedan went about 70-feet off the roadway into a chain link fence and overturned onto its side.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene to help the motorists.

The report said at least one person suffered serious injuries in the accident. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene to transport the patient to the hospital.

About 50 feet of the chain-link fence was destroyed in the traffic collision.

Authorities are investigating to establish the cause of the crash.
