Martinez, California (April 10, 2021) – Authorities have identified the bicyclist who died Thursday morning following a traffic accident in Martinez as Russell Hofeling, 65, of Martinez.

The deadly crash was reported at about 8:00 a.m. Thursday, April 8, in the 1800 block of Arnold Drive.

Authorities said Hofeling was riding a bicycle on Arnold Drive when,  for an unknown reason, he collided with a car.

Hofeling was taken to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the fatal Martinez bicycle accident.
