Rosa Olivera ID’d as Person Injured in Fatal Merced Car Crash at Bloss Avenue and Palm Street
Merced, California (October 8, 2020) – Rosa Olivera, 66, of Hilmar, has been identified as the victim who was injured in a Thursday morning traffic accident that killed one other person in Merced, authorities said.
The two-vehicle accident transpired at about 8:40 a.m. at the intersection of Bloss Avenue and Palm Street.
According to the police, a 2016 Nissan Sentra, driven by Randy Avila, 40, of Delhi, was traveling southbound on Palm Street when it failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection.
The Nissan was then struck on the right passenger side at the intersection by a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic, driven by Olivera.
First responders arrived at the scene and extricated a female passenger who was trapped in the Nissan.

The female passenger was transported to Emmanuel Medical Center in Turlock, where she was pronounced dead.
Olivera, who was not intoxicated, sustained moderate injuries and was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.
Avila fled the scene after the accident and is being sought by the police.
The crash remains under investigation.
