48-Year-Old Richard Jennings Hurt in Atascadero Crash on Highway 101 near Traffic Way
Atascadero, California (April 4, 2019) – A 48-year-old man was injured in a two-vehicle collision involving an alleged hit-and-run driver in Atascadero Wednesday morning, according to the CHP.
The crash occurred just before 9:00 a.m. April 3, on Highway 101 at Traffic Way.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch, Richard Jennings, 48, of Atascadero, was driving a Toyota Tacoma northbound on Highway 101 when he was struck on the right side by a Ford F-150. The report indicated that the Ford was making an unsafe lane change when the crash occurred. Due to the impact, the Tacoma ended up slamming into a large oak tree after crashing through a fence.
Richard Jennings Hospitalized after Atascadero Crash
Jennings sustained moderate injuries following the accident and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the F-150 fled the scene on foot after the incident. The suspect has been identified as 39-year-old Richard Lawrence Gonzalez from Creston, based on the details on the documents he left in his car.
The CHP is searching for the suspect.
