Richard Barnwell Dies after Going Over Santa Monica Freeway Overpass in Los Angeles
Richard Barnwell ID’d as Motorcyclist Killed in Los Angeles Crash on Santa Monica Freeway Transition to Northbound Harbor Freeway

Los Angeles, California (May 1, 2021) – Richard Barnwell, 53, has been identified as the motorcyclist who was killed in a Thursday night traffic accident in Los Angeles, according to the coroner.
The accident occurred at around 11:20 p.m. on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway transition to the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway.
According to the authorities, Barnwell was traveling on the transition road when, for unknown reasons, he was thrown from the bike, went over the overpass, and landed on Venice Boulevard.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedic who responded to the scene pronounced Barnwell dead.
The cause of the collision remained unknown at the time of the report.
The transition road was closed for an unknown duration following the accident.
CHP is investigating to establish the factors surrounding the crash.
