Monterey County, California (June 17, 2019) – A driver was arrested following an auto-pedestrian hit-and-run collision that left a man dead on Saturday night in Monterey County, according to the CHP.

The accident happened at about 10:20 p.m. June 15, on Salinas Road just north of Elkhorn Road.

CHP said a man was hit by a driver who fled the scene after the incident.

The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities were able to trace and locate the suspect of the hit-and-run. The driver, identified as Ricardo Manzo, 27, of Moss Landing, was taken into custody on suspicion of hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing bodily injury.

The authorities are investigating the incident.

Many pedestrians are hurt and several others killed in accidents in California every year.
