Redwood City, California (May 11, 2021) – Redwood City police have arrested 69-year-old Carl Hofstetter following an alleged hit-and-run collision that left a pedestrian dead early Monday morning in Redwood City.

The deadly pedestrian accident took place in the 1600 block of El Camino Real at around 2:30 a.m.

A white cargo van driven by Hofstetter reportedly struck a male party on the highway and fled the scene northbound on El Camino Real.

Due to the impact, the van acquired front-end damage.

Fatal Redwood City Accident

The pedestrian, who was found laying in the middle of southbound lanes, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Hofstetter was later arrested by police and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for felony hit and run and vehicular homicide.
