Redding, California (June 11, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Wednesday afternoon DUI crash that left a driver and a passenger nursing injuries in Redding.
The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m., on June 10, on Hilltop Drive near Peppertree Apartments.
A black Ford F150 was traveling southbound on Hilltop Drive when, for unknown reasons, it made a left turn and collided head-on with a white van that was traveling northbound on the roadway, the police said.
Following the accident, Hal Kimberly Sutherland, 33, of Redding, the Ford driver, reportedly fled the scene on foot.

The van driver and passenger sustained lacerations as a result of the accident. The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Sutherland was located several blocks from the crash site and had changed his clothes to change his appearance.
Sutherland was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail for DUI causing injury, fleeing the scene of a crash and violating the terms of his post-release community supervision.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
