Woman Killed, Ramiro Torres Arrested after Westlake Hit-and-Run Accident on Wilshire Boulevard near Alvarado Street
Westlake, California (August 29, 2020) – The hit-and-run driver who caused a traffic accident that killed a pedestrian early Thursday morning in the Westlake neighbourhood of Los Angeles has been arrested.
The deadly accident took place at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, August 27, on Wilshire Boulevard near Alvarado Street.
According to the authorities, the woman was hit by an eastbound white pickup while she was attempting to cross Wilshire Boulevard.
The woman, believed to be 35 to 40 years old, was taken to a hospital where she was declared deceased. Her name was withheld pending notification of family.
The driver involved fled the scene but was later arrested. The suspect, identified as Ramiro Vincente Torres, 72, of Los Angeles, was booked into custody on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
His bail was set at $50,000.
The accident remains under investigation.
