Ralph Stevenson Sustains Major Injuries in Merced County Motorcycle Accident at Beachwood Drive and Ashby Road

Merced County, California (November 4, 2020) – The motorcyclist who was seriously injured Tuesday evening in a hit-and-run accident at an intersection in Merced County has been identified by the authorities as Ralph Stevenson, 77, of Atwater.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the major-injury collision occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, at the intersection of Beachwood Drive and Ashby Road.
As per the CHP report, a white 1997 to 2001 Honda Prelude was heading southbound on Beachwood Drive when the driver allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and traveled into the path of a Triumph motorcycle that was heading westbound on Ashby Road, driven by Stevenson.
The front left of the Honda ultimately struck the motorcycle. The Honda’s front bumper ripped off in the crash.
Major-Injury Crash at Beachwood Drive and Ashby Road
Stevenson was ejected upon the impact and sustained major injuries. He was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.
Witnesses told the authorities that the Honda drove away on Ashby Road but then returned to the scene so a passenger could retrieve the bumper.
Authorities said the Honda was last seen heading northbound on Beachwood Drive. The Honda’s passenger was described as a heavyset adult male with short shaved hair.
Authorities are still searching for the driver of the Honda and the passenger.
