Ralph Barnhill Jr. ID’d as Man Killed in Lemon Grove Bicycle Crash at Massachusetts Avenue and Westview Place
Lemon Grove, California (November 11, 2020) – Authorities have identified the bicyclist who was struck and killed by a vehicle late last month in Lemon Grove as Ralph Gibson Barnhill Jr., 52, of San Diego.
The deadly bicycle accident happened at about 7:50 p.m. Thursday, October 29, at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Westview Place, just south of Highway 94.
Authorities said Barnhill was riding his bicycle across the street when, for an unknown reason, he was hit by a vehicle that was heading southbound.
Fatal Bicycle Crash at Massachusetts Avenue and Westview Place
Barnhill was taken by emergency crews to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 9:13 p.m.
The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
