Woman Killed, Man Seriously Injured in Quartz Hill Pedestrian Accident on Avenue L near 47th Street West
Quartz Hill, California (September 5, 2020) – A pedestrian was killed and another was injured early Friday morning in a traffic accident in Quartz Hill, according to authorities.
According to a California Highway Patrol report, the pedestrian accident happened at about 3:15 a.m. Friday, September 4 on Avenue L, just east of 47th Street West.
Authorities said a 32-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were struck by a westbound 2012 Toyota Prius while they were crossing Avenue L.
The Toyota was traveling at about 45 to 50 mph prior to the collision. The CHP said the driver, Jonathan Hong, 25, of Lake Hughes, failed to see the two pedestrians due to the poor lighting conditions in the area.

The woman died at the scene. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
The man was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital with major injuries. His current condition was not immediately disclosed.
Hong stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
