Port Hueneme, CA: 3 Injured and 1 Arrested in Multi-Vehicle Crash Thursday Afternoon
3 Hospitalized after Port Hueneme Big Rig Crash near Hueneme and Ventura Roads

Port Hueneme, California (October 25, 2019) – Three people were hospitalized, and a big rig driver was arrested after a multi-vehicle collision occurred Thursday afternoon in Port Hueneme.
According to Ventura County Fire Department and Port Hueneme Police, the pile-up happened at around 12:35 p.m. near Hueneme and Ventura roads.
An initial investigation revealed that a 44-year-old Oxnard man was driving a big rig westbound on Hueneme Road when he allegedly ran a red light at Ventura Road. The loaded tractor-trailer struck at least two vehicles, lost control and left the road, hitting a bus bench and two cars that were in the parking lot of Holiday Inn Express.
Police arrived at the scene to find two cars on the road with three occupants with moderate injuries.
The victims were transported to the hospital for treatment. Their condition remained unknown as of 6:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, the truck driver was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI alcohol greater than 0.04 %, which is the limit for commercial drivers. He was also found driving with a suspended license.
Firefighters said about 20 gallons of fuel were on the ground. Ventura County Environmental Health was called to clean the fuel.
Authorities closed Hueneme Road for about four hours while they conducted an investigation.
