Placerville, California (July 17, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a fiery car collision that happened Friday afternoon in Placerville, leaving at least one person dead.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck transpired at around 4:51 p.m. on eastbound Highway 50 near Five Mile Road.

A Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck collided with a white Audi under unclear circumstances.

The impact sent the Audi into a ditch where it caught fire.

At least one person died in the collision, authorities said. The identity of the deceased was not immediately established.

Authorities are collecting more information to establish the cause of the collision.
