Pismo Beach, California (July 13, 2019) – One person was hurt in a traffic collision that involved a motorcycle in the area of Pismo Beach Friday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol

The motorcycle collision occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. July 12, on Southbound Highway 101, near the Shell Beach Road off-ramp.

The CHP report indicated that the accident involved two cars and a motorcycle which collided in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 for reasons still under investigation. Due to the impact, one of the cars sustained front-end damage.

At least one person suffered minor injuries in the crash. The victim was attended to by paramedics who arrived at the scene shortly after the collision. The identity and current condition of the wounded party have not yet been disclosed to this time.

The motorbike and one of the cars, described as a possibly Lexus or BMW sedan, were towed out of the roadway after the collision.

Police affirmed that the other vehicle which was described as a Nissan Frontier pickup truck allegedly left the crash site.

Meanwhile, the investigation is underway.

When this category of accident happens, the driver of the car may be held accountable for the crash. However, it is good to note that the motorcyclist may also be partly to blame if, for example, they were speeding or riding in the wrong lane.

Speeding – Driving at high speeds reduces the rider’s ability to slow or stop safely in case of a hazard, or slowed or stopped traffic. The rider ends up crashing into other cars or loses control of the motorcycle after applying emergency brakes.
