Martinez, California (January 28, 2021) – A Pinole man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle traffic collision in Martinez, according to a local news source.

The deadly crash happened just after 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, on Highway 4, just east of the Alhambra Avenue exit, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to the CHP, a 1999 Lexus 300 was heading westbound on Highway 4 when, for unknown reasons, it veered off the roadway into the shoulder area and struck a tree.

The driver, only identified as a 33-year-old Pinole man, was declared dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

It is undetermined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
