Petaluma, California (November 7, 2019) – One person was injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Wednesday evening on Lakeville Highway in Petaluma, according to the Petaluma Police.

The accident involved three cars and occurred at about 5:40 p.m. at Pine View Way, near Kaiser Permanente medical offices.

Officers responded to the scene to find one person trapped in one of the cars, according to Lt. Tim Lyons of the Petaluma Police Department. The victim had to be extricated from the car.

At least one driver sustained moderate injuries in the crash. It remained unknown if the other occupants were hurt.

The three vehicles were blocking both lanes of the highway. Police were forced to close the highway between Browns Lane and Frates Road for about an hour as they worked the scene.

Traffic was detoured onto Ely Boulevard South and Browns Lane.

The highway was reopened at 6:20 p.m.

Petaluma Police Department is investigating the crash.
